This year we had a contingent of CS Jersey at the conference which was fantastic! A big thanks to David and Sam Mason for travelling over for the event and it was great to hook up with Michelle Edwards, who is part of CS Jersey but lives in London.
The weather left a lot to be desired with gale force winds and rain but this didn't dampen peoples spirits and the conference was an amazing success with over 140 from throughout Europe attending the 3-day event in North Devon near Mortehoe.
It was great to see a number of people from Europe, with a contingent of more than 20 from Holland, 8 from Ireland, and the rest from groups throughout the UK. There was also a few from South Africa and Australia!
The key speaker was Mr Andrew Carruthers - who used to run a Christian Surfers local group in his home town, then headed up Christian Surfers Australia before taking on the role of Asian Pacific Director. He travelled all the way from Australia to be with us and was challenging but also inspiring and encouraging. He shared with us from the book of Daniel which brought the book to life but also put across some really meaty points as to how we can apply this in our everyday life.
Worship was provided by various folk from the CS crew around the UK and was fantastic! The weekend also allowed time for people to share their stories and testimonies which are always a source of encouragement and an inspiration. Over the weekend it was so clear that as people have taken small steps of faith in their lives, God honoured them in much bigger ways! It was expecially great to hear John McCarthy's testimony on how he came to faith in the past two years.
On Saturday night we were privileged to see a private premier of the new ‘Walking on Water’movie called ‘Walking on Water’. The movie allows you see the world through the eyes of two kids as they embark on a surf trip of a lifetime. The movie features Tom Curren, Bethany Hamilton and the Hopgood brothers.
A full tour is scheduled for the autumn, with a public Premier taking place on 1st July at the Creation fest free music and skate Festival in North Devon.
A gallery of photos will be up shortly on the site, so please browse through.
As for the surf, we did get some on Sunday morning with over 30 members in the water by 6.15am. By the time people were leaving the sun was shining, albeit that it was still breezy and we were able to pack down the tents nice and dry.
A huge thanks to all and above all God as we believe he was present throughout the event and led and inspired us to continue the work of Christian Surfers UK, as we aim to be ‘A Christian presence and witness in our surfing Communities.’

The weekend, held over the 20th – 22nd of June, looks like being a ‘sell’ out. Officially the dead line was June 13th, but if you book TODAY you can still attend.
We have a top class speaker (Andrew Carruthers) all the way from Australia, a great crew of Dutch and Irish Christian Surfers and the theme this year is ‘Partnering with God to change the lives of Surfers’.
To register either fill in the form that you should have been sent (If you are a member) or go to the ‘National Conference’ tab, on the CS Homepage www.christiansurfers.co.uk , download the form, and send it off to the address on the form.
